Ola Launches 'Ola Share' Service; Competes With 'UberPool' by Uber
You can either share the ride with a complete stranger or with your own social groups.
Ola has recently launched a new 'social ride sharing' feature on its app allowing users to share their rides with other users.
With this recently launched 'car pooling service', users can now join multiple groups and thereby share the ride making the travel much cheaper.
Along with this, Ola seems to have claimed that this feature would also be an answer to the traffic problems in cities like Bengaluru while also contributing towards reduction of pollution.
Having said this, the feature is now being rolled out to select users in Bengaluru in the beta phase and will soon be made available in many cities by this year's end.
Adding more on to this, the 'Ola Share' feature can be used to share rides with users from their own social groups or simply anyone who is on the way to the same destination.
However, it is worth recalling that, the 'car pooling' feature was first brought to India by Uber a month ago and we have been knowing about the aggressive competition between Ola and Uber.
But, the option to choose from the social groups of the users is a twisted feature that makes 'OlaShare' completely stand out against the 'UberPool' service by Uber.
While this definitely saves a few pennies, the question that raises is, will this feature be popular in India the same it is in the western part of the world.
However, sharing a ride with your own social groups won't really make a problem, we feel.
To recall, Ola has been coming up with different strategies like delivering groceries, to stay fit in the competition. Also, recently, in August, Ola teamed up with OnePlus to provide a first hand experience of OnePlus 2
