LulzSec Returns To Hack US Military Dating Website
Posts compromised data for anyone to download.
The hacker group known as "LulzSec", has returned and claimed its first victim - the database from a dating website for US military personnel. Hackers using names "LulzSec" and "LulzSecReborn", the group has claimed responsibility for breaking into MilitarySingles.com last Saturday and for stealing data including passwords to email addresses of its 1,70,937registered users. However, eSingles, who operates that site, has said that they are not aware of any evidence pointing to any such breach, although they were investigating and treating it as real.
Meanwhile, the hackers have posted a message, "The website http://www.militarysingles.com/ was recently closed day ago or so, so we dumped email db.{C}{C} There are emails such as @us.army.mil; @carney.navy.mil; @greatlakes.cnet.navy.mil; @microsoft.com; etc". They have also posted two file sharing URLs, from where anyone can download this compromised data. The data was found to be corresponding to real user credentials, as reported by Databreaches.com. However, eSingles has expressed doubts about the claims since its site has only 1,40,000, far less than the number of accounts claimed to be leaked. The group had announced its retirement in June last year, but it looks like it good bored of the easy life and decided to return to the action.
