WhatsApp Voice Calling Feature Reaches Everyone
The feature is finally added on to the latest version of WhatsApp - v2.12.5.
Its happy news for all WhatsApp users as the voice calling feature comes out to everyone.
All you need to have in order to get the feature is the latest version of WhatsApp; v2.12.5 which can be downloaded from the Play Store or directly downloaded from the company's website.
To remind you, recently WhatsApp had introduced this feature on Invitation-only basis.
After a successful beta test, it may be noted that WhatsApp has now added the feature to its latest version.
It looks like there is a stiff competition now for Skype, Viber and Apple iMessage/FaceTime with WhatsApp entering this sector.
After updating your existing WhatsApp application or downloading the WhatsApp v2.12.5 through WhatsApp website, it is learnt that you shall be able to see a new tab for Calls next to the Chats and Contacts tab.
By tapping on the Calls tab and selecting the name of the person, you would be able to have a voice call.
However, as of now, the feature is available only on Android and is soon expected to go live on iPhones.
But, there are some rumours surfacing that many tech enthusiasts have already found out ways to activate voice calling on iPhones which may apparently require Jail breaking the device.
When someone calls you from WhatsApp, you will see an incoming WhatsApp call screen. You will be able to tap and slide the green button to answer the call or slide the red button to decline the call.
Otherwise, you can tap on the message icon on the call screen to decline the call with a quick message. The Calls tab has a list of all your incoming, outgoing and missed WhatsApp calls. The WhatsApp calling feature lets you switch to Speakerphone, mute the call and view the time spent during the call.
However, it is worth mentioning that you cannot access 911 and other emergency service numbers through WhatsApp.
