Facebook Lite Now Available For Download In Select Markets
Built for emerging markets with EDGE networks, it even includes the FB Messenger.
Facebook has finally launched its Facebook Lite app on Google’s Play Store. The app has been designed to consume minimal data and will work smoothly even on 2G networks.
Yes, the app has been designed for developing countries that have limited access to data networks. While the Android app does resemble the company’s Java app for feature phones, it does accomplish a lot more.
For starters there’s Facebook Messenger built-in. You get notifications and can even upload photos. The whole app is just 252 kb in size so downloading it, is super easy as well.
Less than 1 MB in size, the app will load quickly. With such quick access to everything, we guess there would be a lot of users interested since the current Android app does have its share of problems. But as TechCrunch reports, the app is only available in select markets including Bangladesh, Nepal, Nigeria, South Africa, Sudan, Sri Lanka, Vietnam and Zimbabwe for now.
