Leaked: LG G2 To Receive Android Lollipop With New G3 UX

LG seems to be one of the few Android smartphone manufacturers who will deliver an updated GUI along with firmware updates.

 

Apple does it, Sony does it and the same can now be confirmed for LG as well. We are talking about updated UIs for its recent smartphone range. This comes as news from an Italian source that claims it has the screenshots of the Android Lollipop update for the LG G2. The update not only upgrades the G2’s firmware from KitKat to Lollipop but also to version 5.0.1.

LG G2 owners who purchased the flagship smartphones last year will indeed be breathing a sigh of relief that their device qualifies for the update; but there is more. The new update as per the source will also be adding the new LG GUI that is found on the LG G3, meaning that the G2 will get a complete UX overhaul, including the new smart keyboard that made its debut with the G3.

The screenshot that has leaked out shows the LTE version of the smartphone running the latest firmware. While the LTE verison of the handset is usually built for the company’s home markets in Korea, it is a good sign that the ROM will be readied for the international variant of the smartphone as well.

LG won the Red Dot design award for its custom UX in August this year, which is why the company decided to push it to all of its recently launched devices. For now it seems to be delivering what it promised. But somehow we do feel that its Knock Code star, the LG G Pro 2 seems to be left out of the update buzz. As for the LG G3 it has already begun receiving its Android Lollipop update in India.
