Google Is Working On An 'Undo Send' Email Feature For Inbox

Talks about new features on Inbox cropped up on a Reddit AMA session hosted by some engineers from Google

 

Google is working on an 'undo send' feature for its next-generation email app Inbox, which will allow users to quickly recall mails as if they were never sent. The upcoming feature was revealed during a Reddit AMA (ask me anything) session hosted by a few Google engineers working on the project.

The feature should save users a bit of embarrassment when it comes to sending an email to the wrong person, with the wrong information or something even worse. Details of how powerful the Undo Send feature will be and how it will work aren't know just yet, but the guys at Google claim it narrowly missed the launch date.

According to Giagom there are two broad possibilities of how Google could recall sent emails:

The first would be a BlackBerry Messenger like system that just lets you recall email sent to other users of the same service. The second, and more plausible option would be using a somewhat buried Google Labs feature that lets Gmail users recall emails sent to anyone, as long as they do it within 30 seconds of pressing 'send'.

Google's Taylor Kourim, an engineer with the Inbox team, said the undo button was the feature he wants to implement the most, and added "Yes, we're working on it right now.” His colleagues added that customization for snooze times and tablet support were other features they are hoping to add in the near future.
