India To Get Its Own Special Invite System For The OnePlus One

Invite system is only in place to reduce risks.

 

While Xiaomi completely underestimated smartphone sales in the Indian market when it first entered the country, the company now knows how much to stock up since its smartphones sell like hotcakes. Well, now it is OnePlus’ turn to enter the Indian market, but there is already some bad news for all those who were geared up for the company’s first pre-order sale (that will take place in a few hours from now). Putting it simply, India will not be a part of it.

Carl Pei, Director of OnePlus Global made it pretty clear that India is currently a launch country and similar to every other launch country, the company prefers to reduce risks by accessing the market first. This is why Carl Pei announced via the official blog that India will have it own country-specific OnePlus One invites to buy the smartphone.

Yes, the invite system will prevail for Indian OnePlus fans; but that does not mean that it will be in place forever. OnePlus will obviously introduce the pre-order system here once they can finalise on how many smartphones are required to cater to the fans. Keeping that in mind, the Director of OnePlus Global also said that it is working with a local partner to make it easier for fans in India to get their hands on a OnePlus One smartphone. Our guess is that the Chinese smartphone maker like the many others that stepped into the Indian smartphone market, may partner with Flipkart or another online retailer to make their sales process simpler.

But for now, the invite system will be put in place and the Director promises that they will not be scarce or impossible to come by. So you will get your chance to either win an invite via the forums or social media channels.

Indeed OnePlus One is a lot more expensive compared to Xiaomi’s Mi 3. It is said to retail for around Rs 25,000 which is pretty much in line with the soon to be launched Xiaomi Mi 4. Moreover the smartphone maker unlike Xiaomi makes just one single device so it is indeed going to be tough for the company, if it does not take calculated decisions out here in India.
