Foursquare seems to be pushing its messaging app to every platform possible.
We loved Swarm when Foursquare made it available for Android and iOS so when the app launches for Windows Phone, it only means that you will be seeing more of your friends on the app.
Swarm’s only problem when it launched on Android and iOS was that one indeed had to have a lot of friends on Foursquare in order to make good use of it. Foursquare seems to be listening and now we have swarm for your Windows Phone friends as well. But that clearly does not solve the ‘loneliness’ that you will face once you open the app. Clearly there is still something missing here could do lots of Swarm as a coordination platform.
As for the app itself, it seems to work just fine similar to its Android and iOS counterparts. It does make for a great way to coordinate your next hangout with friends. No more calling up to find out where you friend is, Swarm will show you the location of your friends and everyone can communicate with likes, pictures and messages in one single conversation. That is of course, until you meet up.
Clearly there needs to be more thinking put into the product, as the same can be accomplished from a messaging app like WhatsApp as well. The only benefit here is that you can plug into Foursquare’s database of listings which makes planning a trip or to rendezvous at a meeting place easier.
