ASUS Launches External 3D Blu-ray Writer

It comes in a stylish diamond-inspired design.

 

ASUS has just launched a new stylish and fastest external Blu-ray writer, BW-12D1S-U. This new Blu-ray writer also supports the Blu-ray 3D format.

The BW-12D1S-U comes with the SuperSpeed USB 3.0 interface and supports burning speeds of up to 12x for BD-R. It can write to dual layer BD-R at 8x, BD-R (LTH) at 6x, and to single and dual layer BD-RE at 2x. The drive supports proprietary Optical Tuning Strategy (OTS) technology to ensure the best writing quality available at the highest writing speed depending on the media being written to. The accompanying Cyberlink software suite is adept at writing to optical media as well as playing back high definition and 3D content in addition to the ability to convert from 2D to 3D.

Keeping in mind that this is an external drive, ASUS has paid attention to the design of this drive as well by arriving at a stylish diamond shaped form factor. A blue power indicator provides for the artistic touch, while a matching stand allows for horizontal as well as vertical placement to maximise space saving. The excellent design has won this drive several awards including International Forum (iF) design award and the Taiwan Excellence Award 2011.

The ASUS BW-12D1S-U Blu-ray writer is available for an MRP of Rs 9350 (excluding taxes) and comes with a 1-year warranty.
