SwiftKey Goes Free On Android, Adds Emoji Suggestions

Those who paid for the app earlier are also in for a small surprise.

SwiftKey, one of the best on-screen keyboard options on Android, has now gone free on Google’s Play Store. The third-party typing software is among the best and offers maximum flexibility along with customisation, which is what Android is all about. But there is a lot more that comes with the now free SwiftKey.

The on-screen keyboard appears to be completely revamped with a new skin called ‘Nickel’ set to default, which adds a softer and more subtle look to the keyboard. Also included in the new SwiftKey are 30 new themes which are all available via in-app purchases. Talking about themes, those who had earlier supported the app by purchasing it, will now get 10 themes free in the form of a Premier Pack.

SwiftKey was already known for its accurate word prediction and moreover for its support for languages, which has now been updated to 66 in total. New updates also include improved SwiftKey Flow (Swype-like sliding) and an all-new emoji prediction feature that will automatically suggest appropriate emoji’s depending on what you are typing (similar to the Windows Phone 8.1 Word Flow keyboard). Also included is an optional number row which like the new Samsung TouchWiz keyboard allows for easy typing of numbers.

The app that launched back in 2010 has spent more time on the Google Play Store at number one than any other paid app there is.
