Twitter May Soon Let You Edit Your Tweets

Feature expected to be ready in "weeks, or months at the most".

 

You'll soon be able to correct your foot-in-mouth tweets instead of deleting them after being trolled, if reports on The Desk are to be believed. Said to be on top priority, the new feature will let users make changes to their published tweets, but only once. The tweet too shall be open for edit only for a limited time .

The report clarifies: "Once a user publishes a tweet, an “edit” feature will be present for a limited amount of time (Twitter is still currently working out the length of time the feature would be available). The feature would allow a user to make “slight changes” to the contents of a tweet, such a removing a word, correcting a typo or adding one or two additional words."

The changed tweet will also be updated on re-tweets, but only those done via Twitter’s built-in "re-tweet" option (duh!). While this measure is said to be corrective as in fixing "incorrect information, especially erroneous tweets that go viral", the company is working on an "editorial algorithm" to keep a check on whether the entire tweet is being changed, instead of a quick fix, as it doesn't want to let users to change the intent of the tweet. The system is expected to be ready in "weeks, or months at the most", the report quotes an unnamed source.
