LG Unveils 5.5-Inch GX Smartphone In Korea

Packs in a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 chipset; no word on global availability yet.

LG has unveiled a new Android smartphone with a large display, called GX in South Korea. It comes with a big 5.5" 1080p IPS display and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 chipset. The newly-launched handset has specifications similar to the LG Optimus G Pro.

The GX sports 2 GB of RAM, 32 GB of internal storage (non-expandable), 13 MP camera, and a 3140 mAh battery user-replaceable battery. The device measures 150.6 x 76.1 x 9.2 mm and weighs only 167 grams.

The GX will run Android Jelly Bean (version details not revealed yet), with LG’s latest user interface on top. Some of its features include "knock on” that's borrowed from the LG G2, Q Remote, Qslide, etc. The handset will be available in black or white colours. There is no word on Global availability or price of the handset yet.

We wonder what the thinking is behind the launch of the LG GX, as the company already has the G Pro which is very similar in terms of specifications to this handset.
