Why Did Samsung Announce The GALAXY Core Plus?
We wonder as the latest phone is actually a downgraded, yet expensive version of its predecessor.
The biggest smartphone manufacturer in the world, Samsung has added yet another device to its extended GALAXY family. The new entrant is called the Core Plus, which is currently listed on Samsung's Taiwan website. The phone sports a 4.3" TFT LCD display with pixel dimensions of 480x800. Similar to its predecessor, the new phone is powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor (unspecified chipset). Surprisingly, it features 768 MB of RAM, while the last year's GALAXY Core had 1 GB. What's more even internal storage has gone down from 8 GB to 4 GB. For photography, there's a 5 megapixel autofocus camera coupled with an LED flash. Other features include a microSD card slot, dual-SIM functionality, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, A-GPS, and 1800 mAh battery.
The GALAXY Core Plus will ship with Android 4.2 out-of-the-box. In Taiwan, the phone has been priced at 7,990 TWD (Taiwan Dollars), which translates to around Rs 17,000. Now that's a lot of money for a handset that's more of a downgraded version of the original GALAXY Core.
