Vodafone Tries To Lure 3G Usage With Low-Value Packs
However, it still cannot match the levels that Reliance started offering recently.
Vodafone has announced new and affordable 3G packs in a move to make the faster mobile internet standard mainstream. The company, which had earlier slashed 2G rates by 80%, has made the announcement after Reliance slashed 3G rates, and brought it at almost the same level where 2G had been offered so far. The company has launched its "Be Smart" mobile internet initiative under which, it plans to reach out to subscribers and entice them with the attractions of cheaper data packs.
The mobile operator has launched 3G packs starting from Rs 44 with 175 MB of data for 7 days for its Mumbai circle. If you just want to get a taste of 3G, you can also opt for the Rs 26 recharge pack that will give you 25 MB for one day. The above packs can best serve as an introduction to the world of 3G, but if you really want better value for your cash, then you should be looking for monthly plans such as the Rs 102 for 300 MB, Rs 251 for 1 GB, Rs 451 for 2 GB, or Rs 850 for 3 GB with 2 months validity. Voracious users are better off with unlimited plans (with reduced speeds after FUP data limit), but these are expectedly more expensive. All of the above are available for the Mumbai circle for post-paid users, and the low-value packs will soon appear for other circles as well. It must be noted that Vodafone's 3G tariffs are still much higher than those offered by Reliance.
