Micromax Canvas Lite A92 With Android 4.1 Available For Pre-order At Rs 8500
Jelly Bean handset with 5" screen has dual-core CPU, dual-SIM, and 5 mp camera; expected to release on 3rd July.
Micromax Canvas Lite A92 has become available for pre-order online, with a delivery time of up to 3 days. This puts its expected release date at 3rd July. The device runs Android 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean) and sports a 5" touchscreen with WVGA pixel dimensions. The handset comes with 4 GB of ROM (this is where the Android OS resides and is read-only to the user) but only 0.94 GB is user accessible from the internal storage (which should be around 2 GB), so you will definitely have to consider adding a microSD card (up to 32 GB supported). With a width of 3" and height of 5.8", this is considerably wide and tall and therefore may be difficult for single-handed operation. It comes with dual-SIM and 3G, although it is not clear if both the SIMs can support 3G. Additionally, there is Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0. Here is the handset's specification sheet:
- Android 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean), Google Play Store.
- Dual-SIM (GSM + GSM), GSM 2G 900/1800 MHz, UMTS 3G 2100 MHz.
- 5" capacitive touchscreen with pixel dimensions of 480x800.
- 1 GHz dual-core CPU.
- 512 MB RAM, 4 GB ROM, Up to 32 GB microSD support.
- 5 megapixel rear camera with LED flash and fixed focus.
- 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, USB, FM radio.
- Sensors: Gravity, Light, Proximity.
- Dimensions: 3" (W) x 5.8" (H) x 0.43" (10.8 mm) (D).
- 2000 mAh Li-Ion battery with 6 hours 30 minutes talk time and 240 hours standby time.
The 5" screen will surely attract a lot of people, but you must be wary that the WVGA pixel dimensions on such a large screen will surely result in bloated visible pixels, thus adversely affecting image quality. It is more sensible to go for a mobile phone with a slightly smaller screen but with larger pixels. While the CPU should be able to handle most apps, the meagre 512 MB of RAM will pose a bottleneck. For those who make video calls on 3G or Skype, there is no front camera. The Micromax Canvas Lite A92 has not yet been officially announced, but with an MRP of Rs 10,000, the selling price is pegged at a discounted Rs 8500.
