Computex 2013: Dell Launches XPS 11 With Flipping 11.6" WQHD Screen
Can switch between tablet and laptop modes; features a carbon fibre and aluminium body.
While almost every manufacturer is introducing a myriad of devices at Computex 2013, Dell has a single offering with the XPS 11. The 11.6" screen of this laptop can flip 180 degrees, which converts the device from a laptop to a tablet. It sports the company's unique hinged aluminium frame design that was also seen in the XPS 12. In fact it even looks similar to the XPS 12, with the same machined aluminium and carbon fibre body. The device runs Windows 8.
While it is smaller in dimensions than the XPS 12, it packs in better features. Dell has managed to crunch in 2560x1440 (WQHD with 16:9 aspect ratio) pixels in the smaller 11.6" screen giving a high ppi of 267, which is actually better than that of Google's Chromebook Pixel at 239 ppi. The thickness of just 15 mm should lend it good portability. The Intel Core i5 Haswell processor should squeeze in enough processing firepower, with better battery management. The ports present on the device include USB 3.0, Thunderbolt, and an SD card reader. It will also feature an active stylus that will go into an attachment that plugs into its Kensington lock. Dell is yet to announce the price of the XPS 11, but we think it should cost around a lakh in India, when launched.
