YouTube Turns Eight, No Video-Based Celebrations This Year
The video service beams about the popularity of the Gangnam Style phenomenon that made it big last year.
It's been eight years since Google's video sharing service YouTube had been launched, which is reason enough for search giant to celebrate the milestone. In an official blog post, the service claims to see as many as 100 hours of videos going live every minute, and the website attracts over 1 billion visitors every month.
Talking about what rocked their world last year, the blog suggests that Sesame Street earned a massive 1 billion views, which explains why the kiddies show plans to put up a paid channel on the video service.
YouTube also played a big role in Google's April Fool's Day prank, and if you look through the comments under the prank video, you can gauge the popularity of the service.
Unlike on its seventh birthday, when YouTube put up an interesting celebratory video, nothing like that seems to be coming our way this year. But then again, there would be some video that you can catch up on to shoo away the Monday morning blues!
