Opera Mini Will Come Pre-Installed On Select Android Devices
The browser maker has tied up with seven local brands to help users optimise their mobile web experience.
Opera Software has tied up with seven Indian mobile phone companies to ship their Android devices pre-installed with the Opera mini mobile web browser. In a press release, the Norwegian company states that the list of handset makers includes Celkon, Karbonn, Lava, Intex, Fly, Zen, and HCL ME tablets.
Known for its data compression technology, the browser routes web page requests through Opera's servers, which helps in cutting down data transfers (to as little as 10% of the web page's original size) especially for users on expensive cellular data plans. In a recently-published report Opera Software acknowledges that Android is the second largest platform of Opera Mini users, with India making up its largest user base. So that means one essential app less for you to download on your budget Android device.
