Acer Launches C110 & K330 Ultraportable Projectors
Both models employ LED light sources to improve portability and durability.
Acer has unveiled two projectors, the C110 and K330 - both employing LED illumination. This not only conserves power, but also extends lamp MTBF (Mean Time Between Failure) while improving portability as well. The C110 is marketed as a "pico-projector" that fits in your palm and weighs just 175 g. All that it requires is two USB ports that serve the functions of supplying power and providing a data link.
The WVGA (854x480) projector is natively widescreen (16:9 format) and boasts of a 1000:1 contrast ratio. A USB-powered projector sounds implausible, considering this is the same kind of port that barely musters enough juice for 3.5" hard drives. It is therefore obvious that the C110 won't exhibit retina-fusing levels of brightness, but only a thorough review will tell if it can supply acceptable brightness levels. Keep an eye on TechTree.com for a forthcoming review. The Acer C110 is priced at Rs 15,000.
The K330, on the other hand, features a 500 lumen LED lamp in a portable form factor. While this number isn't at all impressive, the projector makes up for it by weighing in at just 1.24 kg. Targeted at business professionals on the move, the K330 includes an SD card slot, USB port, and the usual VGA, HDMI, composite, and component video inputs. It has native pixel dimensions of 1280x800, displayed with a contrast ratio of 4000:1. It also automatically switches off when no video signal is supplied. The Acer K330 retails for Rs 54,000.
