LG Flexible Smartphone Displays Soon
Samsung had earlier showcased its own prototype at CES 2013.
Flexible displays, that are based on the principle of electro-luminescence, seem to have become a rage today. Top manufacturers such as Samsung are slugging it out to bring out the world's first commercial flexible OLED display for smartphones. The Korean giant had even showcased a flexible display prototype at this year's Consumer Electronics Show. Now, LG seems to have joined the race with intensive Research and Development work.
The Wall Street Journal report quotes Yoon-Bu-hyun, VP of LG's mobile business, as having stated LG's plans to introduce flexible OLED display smartphones by the end of the year. LG can be expected to pull some rabbits out of its hat, with Samsung reportedly set to bring out its premier GALAXY Note 3 with an "unbreakable" OLED display. The company based in South Korea is currently bringing OLED TVs to the Indian market, to take on its arch-rival Samsung.
