"Google Keep" Note Taking Service Released, Rumour Confirmed
The new service termed Google Keep is expected to rival Evernote, although note sharing isn't Keep's strong point.
Update (March 20th): Google Keep was officially announced, and became available on Android's Google Play.

(Earlier on March 18th) After making up its mind to kill the Reader, internet giant Google seems to have plans to bring out a new note-taking service called Google Keep. The feature was even available for a little less than half an hour on Sunday at http://drive.google.com/keep/, but clicking on the URL now throws up a "page not found" error.
Android Police says that the new Google Keep is a take-off from Google's scrapped "Google Notebook" service, with screenshots made available. Since Google Notebook was all about "notes", we can expect Google Keep to be an "improved Note Taking" service that helps users maintain notes, create checklists for themselves, use colour-coding to save notes and even put all their notes in archives, and use for future viewing.
Google's note-taking service is also expected to offer users a list and thumbnail view when it is actively running. A Google search bar is also said to be integrated with "Keep". Apart from the web version of "Keep", there is also an Android application of the service; but there are no signs of this app on Google Play, as of now.
The expected "Google Keep" reminds us of the famous note-taking app Evernote, which also provides similar note-making functionality to users and also comes in the form of an Android app that is currently available on Google Play. Even Microsoft's Onenote is a popular note-taking service.
Will Google Keep rival the popular Evernote app on Android?
In addition to this, a Google Plus post makes a mention about the "unreleased" Google Keep and its integration with Google Drive. Even various screenshots of Google Keep have surfaced that seem to suggest that the service is indeed in the works.

Finally, Google Keep can be termed as yet another "in the works" product. Notable products in this category are Google Play News which is touted as a competitor to Apple's Newsstand service and the Google Now, which is speculated to be incorporated into Google Chrome.
