Acer Liquid C1 Launch Brings A Big Brand Name Into x86 Android Space
Non-ARM Android smartphones are climbing the ladder of visibility, Lava's Xolo X900 now has competition from a bigger brand name.
The Intel Atom-powered Acer Liquid C1 smartphone has been announced in Thailand, and is expected to be available in other parts of the world soon. Acer claimed the Liquid C1 smartphone is the "First of its kind in Asia Pacific". Its Thai price is approximately 9000 Thai Baht (approx. Rs 17,000), placing it in the "Mid-Range" category considering its technical specifications.
The Acer Liquid C1 runs the Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) OS, and has a 4.3" screen. The rest of its specs are:
- 4.3" IPS capacitive touchscreen, 960x540 pixels
- Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system
- Intel Atom Z2420 processor (x86)
- 8MP primary, 0.3MP secondary camera
- 1GB RAM
- 4GB internal storage, expandable up to 32GB with microSD card
- Wireless LAN, GPS, Bluetooth 2.1 connectivity
- 2000 mAh battery
The distinction of being the manufacturer with the first Intel-basedsmartphone goes to Lava, which sells two Xolo phones in India based on Intel processors.
