MiWand 2 PRO Portable Scanner Launched For Rs 9000; Lets You Scan "All The Way To The End Of The Book Bind"
Powered by 2 AA batteries, "Bookedge design" scanner comes with a 4 GB microSD card to save images.
Avision has launched a portable scanner — the MiWand 2 PRO. This handheld, sheet-fed scanner works on AA batteries and features a 32 GB microSD. So what do you do with a portable scanner if you aren't a secret agent? Several things really: Scan a library reference book (if you can't borrow it), scan brochures at a shop, take copies of time-tables, maps, and hotel menus. Well, you can achieve the same results with a decent phone camera, but this kind of device is more convenient (and sophisticated). Avision claims that its "Bookedge design" lets you scan "all the way to the end of the book bind (<2 mm)". Here are the device specifications:
- CIS (Contact Image Sensor); Hand-held and Sheet-fed.
- 2x AA alkaline batteries.
- Output resolution: 300 / 600 dpi.
- 16 MB internal storage; 32 GB microSD card slot.
- 2.7" (w) x 12.7" (d) x 2.2" (h) mm; weighs 663 grams (including dock).
- Mini USB port, USB 2.0.
- Bundled software: NewSoft presto! PageManager.
- 1.8" colour LCD screen.
- Scan Size: ADF (Automatic document feeder) Minimum 3.5"x2", ADF Maximum 8.5"x14", Flatbed Maximum 8.5"x14".
- Scanning speed (B/W @ 300dpi): A4 at 0.6 seconds (Handheld), 5.8 seconds (Sheet-fed)
- Scanning speed (Colour @ 300dpi): A4 at 1.6 seconds (Handheld), 5.9 seconds (Sheet-fed).
Priced at Rs 9000, the MiWand is available in four colours and ships with a 1-year warranty. If you are looking for just a handheld scanner at a lower price, the (somewhat dated) Portronics Scanny 3 isn't a bad option at Rs 5500.
