ASUS Unveils Android 4.0 Padfone 2 With 4.7" Screen

ICS smartphone can be transformed into a tablet using the Padfone Station accessory.

 

ASUS has unveiled a second iteration of its Padfone in Taiwan. Dubbed the Padfone 2, this smartphone changes into a tablet when you dock it with an accessory called the Padfone Station. Essentially, the "Station" consists of a 10.1" screen that draws processing power from the phone. The smartphone features a 4.7" Super IPS+ screen with pixel dimensions of 720x1280. It's powered by a 1.5 GHz quad-core Snapdragon S4 chipset, and it has a 13 mp rear camera. Here's the list of detailed specs:

The device definitely packs in some serious firepower, and the accessory makes it even more interesting. ASUS has also promised to deliver the Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) update "soon". The Padfone 2 will hit the Taiwanese market as early as next week, to be followed soon by Europe and Asia. We don't yet have any information regarding pricing.
