Mobile-Friendly Version Of Google+ Launched Specially For Feature Phones
Lets users without Net access update their status via SMS notifications.
Google's attempt at social networking hasn't been a runaway success — yet. Earlier this year, Google+ hit the 90 million user base figure; its popularity in India has certainly grown manifold after Gujarat CM Narendra Modi's hangout session. Considering that a large number of users in India own feature phones, the search giant has come up with a mobile browser-friendly website that lets users post updates, share photos, or check out their Google+ stream irrespective of the handset they use.
What's interesting is that the service claims your handset doesn't need to have data access or Wi-Fi connectivity. All you need to do is enable SMS notifications through the mobile website. But... you need to load the service on a mobile browser to enable the functionality, and plus.google.com doesn't let you switch to the mobile website on your desktop browser. (So you do need data access on your phone to enable the feature first.)
With the mobile site, you can access the common action bar across all screens to post updates, switch between your circles, as well as +1 or "reshare" contents from your stream directly. Do you still frequently access your Google+ account, and update it often? Let us know!
