Bounce Set To Launch Its Maiden Electric Scooter – Bounce Infinity

Pre-bookings for Bounce Infinity to begin soon and deliveries to start by January next year

Scooter rental startup Bounce is all set to launch its EV scooters called Bounce Infinity. The ‘Made in India’ vehicle is equipped with enhanced state-of-the-art equipment and intelligent features.

The most unique thing about the vehicle is that it comes with removable batteries, so the customer can remove them, carry them and charge, as per their requirement. Additionally, they will have an option to purchase without battery and use company’s vast swapping network, said Vivekananda Hallekere, CEO and co-founder, Bounce in a tweet

Since batteries can account for 40-50% of an electric scooter’s cost, Bounce is dedicated to build a battery swapping network which will serve both its retail customers and its ride sharing business.

For Bounce Infinity, customers will have the option to use battery as a service, which will be first of its kind in the Indian market. Scooter without battery means, the customer pays for the battery whenever they swap an empty battery with charged battery in company’s swapping network. This makes running cost of scooters 40 percent lesser than conventional petrol scooters.

Bounce had acquired 100% stake in 22Motors in a deal valued at about $7 million in 2021. As part of the deal with 22Motors, Bounce has acquired its Bhiwadi, Rajasthan-based plant and intellectual property. The state-of-the-art plant has a capacity to manufacture around 1,80,000 scooters per year. As a part of its commitment to the Indian market, the company is planning to set-up another plant in southern India.

Bounce has set aside $100 million to be invested in the EV business over the next one year. Launched in 2018, the Bengaluru-based company has constantly been innovating in the smart mobility space, since then by first introducing its inhouse Bounce dockless bikes were launched in Bengaluru in May 2018. Having created India’s first smart mobility solution, with a view to providing a sustainable solution Bounce launched electric vehicles in Bengaluru.

Over a period of 6 months since launch, Bounce EV was able to clock 8 million km. This was achieved with a distributed network on battery stations across 170+ locations, clocking 200K battery swaps.

Considering there is a dearth of options with respect to reliable, sustainable EV bike models, Bounce built its own EV and launched it in April 2021. The model has proven superior performance, strong resistance and is built and is economically cheaper than other variants available in the market.  The company has successfully completed 2 crore kms on EV Fleet and facilitated 500k battery swaps till date.
