Over 900,000 Android Devices Activated Each Day: Andy Rubin
Senior VP of Mobile at Google and "father of Android" also rubbishes rumours of his exit.
Often considered as the father of Android, Andy Rubin has been at the forefront of development of the mobile OS, right from its inception. He said on Twitter yesterday that Android has reached 900,000 activations in a day. His last update came during the MWC when daily activations were around 850,000. He also squashed rumours of his departure from Google as suggested by Robert Scoble on Google Plus.
The rumour hinted that the Senior VP of Mobile at Google was leaving the company to work with a startup called CloudCar, which has a couple of ex-Microsoft executives under its belt. Rubin, however, was quick to play down the comment made by Scoble.
With Android reaching 900,000 activations already, it shouldn’t take long for it to cross the 1 million mark. Smartphones such as the Galaxy S III and HTC One X will help, not to mention the budget range Android handsets that are available in abundance.
