WhatsApp’s Latest iOS Update Integrates Siri
Now you can get the voice assistant to help you set up calls with other users or even send messages without actually typing
Smartphones are making us less smart and probably lazier. The latest update by WhatsApp messenger on the iOS allows integration of the iPhone’s voice assistant Siri with the entire process of sending messages and making voice calls to other users.
The WhatsApp version 2.16.10 came to the fore yesterday and comprises an 88 MB download – not too heavy in case of a 3G connection or on the WIFI. The focus has been on making life easier on the iOS 10. Here are a few reasons that could convince you to update the application right here, right now…
· Now users can forward media or messages to multiple chats at the same time. Of course, one has to be careful while doing so as there is a good chance of the wrong message going to more than one wrong person!
· With Siri integration, users will be able to use the voice assistant to send messages or make calls. Ensure that your phone is on iOS10 that became available across India last night.
· Another update features the ability to connect to a call on WhatsApp without actually unlocking the home screen. Just as we do while receiving a standard call. Of course, this feature too is limited to the new OS.
· In line with the widget mania set off by Apple in the latest update, WhatsApp’s own widget would allow users to fast forward to a recent chat or take up chats that have unread messages.
· There are some other features that ease things a bit such as the App displaying frequently contacted users when one tries to forward a message or media or the new look buttons on photos and videos within the chat.
Of course, the critics of the latest update are still not too happy over the fact that contrary to published reports there is no GIF support and no video calls feature. While we wait for these additions, let us also hope that some more ‘Snapchat features’ would make an appearance soon on WhatsApp. Are you listening Mark Zuckerberg?
