Acatel Launches New 4G Smartphone Pop Star At 6,999

CL Communication-owned brand Alcatel launched its new smartphone dubbed the Pop Star on Monday in India. Priced at Rs. 6,999, the all-new Alcatel Pop Star is exclusively available via Gadgets 360, in Metal Gold and Metal Silver colour variants.
The smartphone is a modification to the Alcatel OneTouch Pop Star smartphone launched at IFA 2015 last year, and is only available in 4G option.
Alcatel Pop Star has a 5-inch HD IPS display. It features an 8 MP rear camera and a 5 MP front camera, while being backed by a 2,000 mah battery. Users who run out of space quickly can expand on the phone’s memory capacity via a microSD card slot. It also comes with connectivity options like dual-SIM, 4G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and microUSB 2.0.
Alcatel’s E-commerce Head Krishan Kalra said, “Alcatel Pop Star smartphones launch in the Indian market is a step towards reaching out to a larger consumer base. We are expanding our smartphone range in the market and POP STAR is targeted at those consumers who prefer an all-features smartphone within a budget.”
Commenting on the launch, Praveen Valecha, Regional Director, Alcatel, APAC BU India, said, "Pop Star is our fashionable yet affordable range of smartphones. We are very excited to launch this phone in partnership with Gadgets 360 and this is another step towards our recent e-commerce initiative to bring technological advanced and stylish phones at affordable pricing."
Since the 5-10 thousand price bracket is already market is already filled with loads of other smartphones, it would be a real challenge for Alcatel's new smartphone to make a lasting impact. However, we will have to wait and watch.
