LinkedIn Launches 'Placements' Service; Helps Students Find Their First Jobs

Colleges like DY Patil, FMS Delhi and PESIT are said to have already started using the service in India.

Professional networking platform LinkedIn has recently launched a new service which it calls as 'Placements' to enable the students find their first jobs and start a fresh career.

With over 33 million members in the student segment in LinkedIn, the service is expected to be making finding jobs easier, especially for graduating students through out the nation. The service is said to have been developed by around 40 members of the India team for product development.

However, it is being said that this service is being first piloted in India after which the company may concentrate on other countries. Coming to India, it is being said that colleges like DY Patil, FMS Delhi and PESIT are among 14 colleges to have already adopted the pilot.

With this service, it is also expected that the placement officers will be at ease to organize the data and take effective and efficient decisions to help achieve maximum placements.

LinkedIn has also announced that it is now harder for freshers to land on to their first jobs than it was two decades ago and this is where the company claims 'Placements' to come in efficient use.

Adding more, the 'Placements' service would be efficient for three groups of players – students, placement officers and recruiters.

The service will be helping students to find any jobs from anywhere and anytime, while placement officers will be finding it efficient and automated.

On the other hand, recruiters will be finding it easier to post jobs and filter candidates even before the campus drives.
