21st Sep 2015The answer is simple. It doesn't predict our future. Instead, it is a brilliant campaign targeted at informing people about the ongoing migrant crisis in Europe.
The 'Google Fortunetelling' has been doing rounds all day long and at first, it looks to be yet another brilliant Google initiative where the algorithms do some research on our data and would predict your future.
On top of this, the site betagoogle.com also looks fairly similar to the Google search engine along with its newly unveiled logo.
While many people have visited betagoogle.com to try their hands on the latest fortune telling app, the actual message is displayed only when the 'Predict my future' button on the site's main page is clicked.
Of course, while the app cannot predict our future, the heart-melting initiative makes us think about the future of millions of refugees out there in Europe for at least a minute.
Users get a message saying that the fake Google-site was mere an attention gainer because of the usual interest in people to know their future.
Among the two suggestions displayed on the page, the second one "Donate to one of the charities" is a clickable link that leads to The UN Refugee Agency page enabling users to make the donations.
While the whole initiative looks to be pretty creative and at the same pretty heart-touching, there was no information as to who was actually behind the initiative, Google or anyone else? But, now, it looks like DigiDay has put out on its website that Brain Media, a Netherland-based creative communications agency is responsible for the initiative.
While we all are very keen on knowing our future, this fake Google-site encourages us to help refugees by giving donations and also to spread the initiative by allowing to share on various social media platforms.
In case if you haven't come across this yet, we believe it would definitely be worthwhile to check out betagoogle.com
